Carte Blanche, 2022 – 2023

Installation, actions

For Carte Blanche, No. 100 of the series Retour de Paris, a wooden construction was installed on the ground floor of the Institut français Stuttgart, marking the exhibition space made available to the artist. The walls of the room construction are formed by event posters from various art institutions, of which only their backs can be seen. The sounds that were made during the setting up of the exhibition space emanate from this structure during the exhibition. Towards the end of the exhibition, the doubling of the space provided was transformed. A book was bound from the walls, which are made of posters, and an object was made from the wooden construction, on which the book is placed.

Texts written by Mathilde Belouali-Dejean, Hendrik Bündge, Hannah Eckstein, Marie-Nour Hechaime and Frank-Thorsten Moll about Marleine Chedraoui's artistic work and the exhibition at the Institut français Stuttgart are published in the accompanying booklet for the exhibition. These texts have been read out by the artist during the exhibition.

Vernissage: 2 March at 19.30, reading of the texts by the artist, welcome by Johanne Mazeau-Schmid (Cultural Officer of the Institut français Stuttgart) and Dr Claudia Rose (Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden Württemberg), and talk with Bénédicte Alliot (Direktorin der Cité des arts Paris) and Jean-Baptiste Joly (Founding director of Akademie Schloss Solitude). Moderation: Dr. Eva-Marina Froitzheim (Kunstmuseum Stuttgart)

Reading of the texts by the artist: on 2 March at 19.30, 3 March at 14.00, 23 March at 12.00 and on 31 March at 19.30
Transformation: from 23 March 2023
Finissage: on 31 March 2023 from 19.30
